Free Credit Reports
Be Sure You Get the Whole Story
The great thing about a free credit report is that it can give you some initial insight into your credit profile. It contains a lot of information about you and your credit accounts — including institutions, your account numbers, balances, and payment history. However, unlike IDENTITY GUARD® services, a free report doesn’t recommend solutions for managing your credit score, nor does it analyze how your intention to apply for a mortgage, for example, could affect your score.
Remember, You Get What You Pay For
If you’re simply looking to get a simple report free of charge, the good news is the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) grants all consumers the right to request one once a year from each of the three major credit agencies — Equifax®, Experian®, and TransUnion®. However, those reports may not be complete. For instance, they might not include your credit score — an important detail that can help you understand how lenders view you, and what credit terms they may be willing to offer you. IDENTITY GUARD® services, on the other hand, can provide you with a full view of your entire credit picture.
