Why We Monitor Your Credit

We Keep You Better Protected by Keeping You Informed

Credit Monitoring comes with your IDENTITY GUARD® TOTAL PROTECTIONSM, WATCHFUL EYE® and
EXTRA CAUTION® service, because it is one of the most important features that can help you stay ahead of identity thieves. It alerts you to potential inaccuracies in your credit report(s) that could suggest that credit fraud or identity theft activities has taken place.

What's Involved?

IDENTITY GUARD monitors your credit report(s) for certain changes, and then promptly alerts you to the information that is detected. That way, when you review your credit report(s), you can determine if any unauthorized credit applications have been opened in your name, or correct any other inaccuracies you find.

Monitoring Just One Credit Report Isn't Always Enough

While all three credit bureaus — Experian®, Equifax®, and TransUnion® — maintain similar credit information about you, they often don't include the same details. That's why IDENTITY GUARD offers your multiple service levels to choose from.

WATCHFUL EYE can monitor just one report and provide you with your credit score based on data from Equifax. Or, by enrolling in EXTRA CAUTION or TOTAL PROTECTION, your credit information at all three credit bureaus can be monitored. Either way, we'll provide you with timely alerts to changes such as applications for new credit in your name (for things such as a credit card, mortgage, loan or utility services), changes to your home address, or late or missed payments on your accounts.

We'll also alert you to changes in public filings, such as judgments, liens, or bankruptcies that appear in your name, because — believe or not — there have been many cases of identity thieves filing for bankruptcy using someone else's identity, creating enormous long-term problems for the victim. But as an IDENTITY GUARD member, if that ever happens to you, we'll help you recover from it.
