Identity Guard is proud to announce that for the third year in a row, we have been named to 2014 Online Trust Honor Roll for our commitment to best practices in security, privacy and data stewardship. Formally launched by the Online Trust Alliance (OTA) in 2009, the Online Trust Honor Roll and Online Trust Audit is a prestigious recognition for honoring those firms who voluntarily adopt best practices in brand and consumer protection, security, and privacy.
"We are pleased to have our direct-to-consumer brand, Identity Guard, once again be named to the Online Trust Honor Roll," says Tim Rohrbaugh, Vice President of Information Security, Intersections Inc. and OTA Board Member. "In today's ever changing environment, where sophisticated cyber threats continue to challenge consumers and businesses alike, it's more important than ever to adopt strong security and privacy behaviors and commit to staying ahead of the threats to protect consumers, employees, and shareholders."
Now in its 5th year, the Honor Roll has expanded to more than 800 sites; including OTA members, the Internet Retailer 500, FDIC 100, and the top 50 news, social media, and government organizations. This year, the 2014 Online Trust Audit focused on three major categories:
- Domain, Brand & Consumer Protection
- Site, Server & Infrastructure Security
- Data Protection, Privacy & Transparency
In order to qualify for the Honor Roll, sites must receive a composite score of 80% or better and score at least 55 out of 100 points in each of the three categories. Overall 30 percent of companies evaluated made the Honor Roll, yet disappointingly nearly 53 percent failed in one of more of the categories.
"Only 12% of qualifiers achieved Honor Roll status for the third year in a row, including Identity Guard," said Craig Spiezle, President and Executive Director for the Online Trust Alliance. "As the threat landscape continues to evolve, it is critical for firms to take more of a holistic view of brand protection, security, and privacy understanding that it is no longer just about meeting compliances, it's about becoming a steward of consumer data."
We are very excited about this honor and we look forwatd to to many more years helping to protect the identities of our customers with our continued committement to best practices in privacy and security!
